Steven L Smith

Musician

Grammar, dialectic, rhetoric, geometry, arithmetic, astronomy, and music. As early as the fifth century, AD, these disciplines made up the seven liberal arts — the tenets of a Classical education. Great teachers and philosophes, such as Aristotle and Socrates, taught many a student how to live and how to think for themselves, at least partially through music.

In 2004, when Steven L Smith graduated from high school, after being extremely active in the music program at McQuaid Jesuit, he went on to major in Music at Nazareth College. Through the years, many teachers, scholars, and mentors have shaped the foundation of his knowledge in Music, as it relates to the world at large. Some of these people are Mary Ann Bruce, Troy Slocum, Ralph and Sandy Zecchino, Marcia Sheremeta, Mark Gizzi-Schmidt, Danielle França, Kevin Karnisky, Beverly Smoker, Paul Smoker, Tom McGarry, Kevin Nitsch, and Marjorie Roth. Without their hands, Steven would have never gone on to have a professional or personal life in music. These mentors, in addition to the rest of the faculty and staff at Nazareth College, have also helped to bridge the gap between it, and the rest of the world.

So how does all of this matter to you? Well, are you getting Married? Do you need a Church musician? Someone to play the piano while you wear fancy clothes and drink alcohol? Someone to sing the national anthem? Contact Steven L Smith, and he'll discuss it with you!
